The Bop (American Bandstand) jitterbug is the jitterbug that was done on Dick Clark's American Bandstand show in the late 1950's. This study guide represents a rigorous, organized, concise and clear description of a high swing version of it.

For each partner in the dance the study guide:

a.) Presents a concise easy to understand step by step description of the basic repeating weight shift pattern of the dance.

b.) Presents a concise easy to understand step by step description of the basic face to face movement of the dance.

c.) Uses a clear systematic approach to present a concise easy to understand step by step description of each of 26 (mostly high swing) moves to the dance. For each move the associated description clearly and concisely includes a step by step description of every rotation that occurs during it.

Finally, the paragraphs of the study guide are letter coded throughout [from a.) to dg.)] for ease in identifying the locations of the descriptions and referring to one part of it from another in them.

Therefore, for each partner the study guide rigorously explains in an organized concise easy to understand step by step manner the basic repeating weight shift pattern of the dance, the basic face to face movement of it and the steps and rotations of each of 26 (mostly high swing) moves to it. In so doing it conveys much more knowledge of the dance than is necessary for the reader to develop his or her own special moves to it.
