Lucas Schmidt is a 12-year-old boy who lives a life of bitter toil in 1927 western Kansas. A Cottonwood Breeze is the story of Lucas' life from age 12 to age 96. Pain and poverty give way to love and choices as life becomes a bittersweet farmer's struggle.
