Taking the Long Way Home is a novel set in England during 1805.It is about three children who must leave their woodland home when they lose their father in a tree felling accident. Their bereft, poverty stricken mother sends them with the families' last coins, on a journey to London, so that Richard (age fourteen) can nd work and support himself and his brother and sister.
