LiGHTiNG CEREMONY (PROLOGUE) is the beginning of what can only be described as a futuristic story of a past not quite gone. The story is one of adventure and survival after a catastrophic earthquake sparks the initiation of a global repopulation program in a place named Metsys Park.

It introduces the main characters Zo and Gran'mere in their homeland, Haiti. Readers are helped in following parts of their dialogue in Haitian Kreyol through phonetic spellings, but are not given translation to fully understand what is being said. The effect is to create the sense of being a foreigner in a world just outside ones own. There are winks of cultural references which lift the conversations amongst characters from the fantastic to the familiar for readers of Haitian ancestry. At the same time there is enough vivid imagery for readers of all backgrounds to follow the main characters and become part of the action.

There is a time switch related to the introduction of Zo's children who live in Metsys Peak. Meeting them in the LiGHTiNG CEREMONY (PROLOGUE) is important. It is the first part of a serial story. More characters get introduced in later books and each contribute to the rebuilding of a new reality out of old traditions in Metsys Peak.

The LiGHTiNG CEREMONY sci-fi series follows its own rules about time and place with sudden breaks in the usual pace of story-telling convention.

It is a story told primarily in English, however readers are introduced to the various national languages of its characters.
