Daughter of the Palms

Hills are mountains to a child, teeth are tusks. Memories are such fickle things, and yet I cherish them, remembering not so much each tiny detail as the whole experience, the feeling, taste, aroma of those early childhood years in Africa--thus we are introduced to this wonderful new collection of short stories chronicling the author's experience growing up in the great country of Sudan. The tales range from the tragedy of losing her "baby" sister to the dangers of being bitten by a poisonous sea creature to the raucous humor of young students at mission school.
