Raised Right Men is about two men who travel together through America to reach their estranged families and reconcile their dark pasts. The narrative shifts between the voices of the two men, Roanoke and Sidney, from the time they meet at a bus terminal in Pittsburgh to the time they reach their destinations in the south. Roanoke is mute and communicates through various notepads. Sidney is confined to a wheelchair following a horrific event. They have both escaped: Roanoke from his partner of ten years, and Sidney from a mental asylum after being a ward for ten years. The violence and compassion in both men is explored as they encounter a variety of obstacles along the journey.
