What the Earl Wants

Adam Ferguson, The Earl of Hinshaw, strode through the crush of people, smiling at some of the young debutantes. Some batted their eyelashes and smiled back, some appeared quite frightened. Right smart of them. After all, he did have a reputation of a scandalous rakehell, that devoured and ravished the ladies. But to his credit, he did not dally with the innocent. He cared not to spend his time teaching a woman how to pleasure a man, he wanted the ones that knew precisely how to pleasure him.
Maggie did not hated London, not in the least. She loved the glitter and glamour. She liked the balls, dinners, soirees and the opera – but only in moderation. And she also liked the men, well of course she did, what lady wouldn't. After all, that was the purpose of the season – to find an eligible gentleman to marry. But she knew all to well what was to come over the next few months. After all this was her second season. And furthermore, Maggie's heart wasn't in it. Her heart was not engage with any of the gentleman she met.
