A million yellow-jackets whizzed by: close to his head, close to his feet. He could have, it seemed, stuck his arm out and caught the singing bullets by the handful. He tried to shrink into as small a puddle as possible in an attempt to stay alive and reasonably intact. Nothing in his twenty-six years had prepared him for the paralyzing fear that gripped him.
