"A Foreigner's Guide to Ukrainian Women" is a collection of three stories about love and life of Ukrainian people. The first story is about Johnny, a young American who accidentally meets Olga. She gives Johnny everything he ever dreamed of, which leads to his spectacular downfall. This is a valuable lesson for all foreign guys who are looking for young and beautiful Ukrainian women: be careful what you wish for!
The second story, "Love Notes From Tokyo," is a romantic comedy about an internet relationship between a single middle-aged Ukrainian woman and a self-employed Englishman living in Tokyo. As it often happens in life, learning about each other by e-mail is one thing; meeting one another in person is quite another.
The last story in the trilogy, "Gonta," is an adventure tale about Alexei and Nikolai, who travel to Australia in order to bring back to Kiev a sailboat they had built with their own hands. Shipped off to Perth, Gonta was eventually forgotten by everyone, except Alexei and Nikolai. With little money, no sailing experience and no knowledge of the English language, they set out on a year-long adventure of a lifetime.
