The lives of many people were changing during this period. Events had reporters and newsmakers coming into the living rooms of our homes. The issues that were earlier heard or read about could now be viewed. What was in black and white was moving to color. Television had become a major player as the pace of life shifted to a higher gear.
Wes Patterson was one of many young people taking this in. He was trying to understand what was confronting him. Tensions of the world and the decisions that were soon to be made. He was considering college, yet felt ill prepared. Possibly enlist in the military. There was of course the war in Vietnam looming and being a divisive matter with the populace. Perhaps he would work toward a career, yet preparation again was lacking.
There were the girls in his life, or girls he wanted in his life. They also brought about decisions that could tally in one place while taking away at another.
Friends, old and new, were seeing many of the same things as Wes. Some were designing their future, while others were moving along with little concern.
Questions and choices that were present then might parallel what we see today. Decisions would soon be more relevant after graduation; Wes was coming to realize that after high school he would have reached a point in life where things he wanted to do required a different way of thinking. He would have to see things as that of an adult, and the transition was not always easy.
