God's Urgent Call
The theme for this quarter reminds us that God continues to speak to us through God's written word. God calls ordinary people from diverse backgrounds to make a difference. From the days of the judges to the prophets to the early church leaders, God called and the faithful answered.
UNIT 1 • CALLED TO BE STRONG: The four lessons in this unit are drawn from the Book of Judges and continue the history of Israel after Joshua's death. God raised up a series of national leaders called judges. Empowered by God, judges delivered the people from their enemies.
UNIT 2 • CALLING OF THE PROPHETS: The five lessons in this unit focus on how God called various prophets at different times for specific purposes. Included in this unit are the calls and responses of Moses, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Amos.
UNIT 3 • CALLS IN THE NEW TESTAMENT: The four lessons in this unit focus on how God continued to work through ordinary people. Their witness reminded the early church that God assures the success of those who answer God's call. The unit highlights the calls of Stephen, Philip, Ananias, and Peter.
UMI's newest publication for young adults (ages 18–34), Urban Faith® Leader (formerly known as Young Adult Today® Leader) features 13 lesson plans presented in a contemporary magazine-style format. A Bible study guide, background information, and entertaining articles help leaders address the realities of young African American Bible students searching for a higher level of spiritual development.

Urban Faith® discusses current social issues and centers around the needs and critical issues facing Black, American, young adult Christians.
Young adults acquire an understanding of biblical principles, and show they can make responsible life applications of the principles discussed. Leaders get excellent teaching plans that show how to involve young adults in the class, and how to motivate students to learn biblical truths and live out the lesson daily.
LESSON HIGHLIGHTS
Get Them Going: Opens honest discussion about topics relating to the lesson
Intro Story: Gives a modern perspective from which the lesson can be viewed
The Big Picture: Helps identify key themes in the lesson and relates them to modern-day situations
Combing Through: Offers more insight into the Bible study verses by analyzing the interpretation and theology of the passage
Diving Deeper Quiz: Helps ascertain whether the students understood the basic information of the lesson
Next Steps: Invokes discussion about the Bible and lesson principles and requires that the student dive deeper into Scriptures and life experiences
Put It Out There: Engages students in group and personal application of the Christian principles they just learned
Say Word: Helps with pronunciation of difficult words
