Twin Warriors in the Confederate Army (Annotated)

So many families in the American Civil War lost more than one child to battle and disease. One of those was the Harris family of Virginia. Twin boys, early to enlist in the Confederate cause, they died exactly one year apart to the day.

This is a specific kind of Civil War memoir. It was written both as a record of the the service of two boys but also as a memorial to soothe a shattered father. As such, it speaks to the sorrow that so many families endured in words that were designed to comfort.

Both boys were lauded by those with whom they served, one of them dying while leading a charge. All that is here taken down by a family friend from the soldier's who knew George and Bushrod Harris.
