If you have aver enjoyed one of Jules Verne's tales that seemingly predicted (quite accurately) future events, you will enjoy this tale of a large ocean liner that sets out on a trans-Atlantic voyage with far too few lifeboats ("As few as the law allows") that then strikes an iceberg off the coast of Newfoundland in the middle of the night, sinks, and more than half of her 2,500 passengers and most of the crew perish. The ship? The TITAN. The date? 14 years before the TITANIC!
This eerily accurate tale was first published in 1898 and has so many things "right" in it, it is little wonder that many people thought Robertson to be a clairvoyant.
Also in this volume is BEYOND THE SPECTRUM, a story of a planned sneak attack by the Japanese Navy on the Philippines and Hawaii. In it they plan to use a stolen U.S. technology in the form of a giant searchlight that works on a wavelength up in the ultraviolet that can blind the enemy.
As with TITAN, this story foretold a future event as it was written in 1912!
