This is a story about a teenage girl from a small town in West Virginia during the 1960s who uses her psychic abilities and the Ouija board to help solve mysteries. Unfortunately while she is attempting to help others, her world starts to unravel.
Her parents separate and divorce. Her mother falls apart emotionally and begins to drink and use prescription drugs, while her father begins his new life and essentially abandons Bird and her younger sister. She then becomes the primary source of income for the family as well as the surrogate parent for her younger sister.
All Bird wants is to be normal; however, she can't escape being pulled into drama by mystical sources.
