A story of murders, slayings and bayou folk lore mix for a tale of a sultry thriller and suspense. What starts as kidnappings usually ends in brutal slayings of a serial killer, but is it? Is it a serial killer or the Bayou folk lore of the ;Rougarou'? A seven plus foot tall creature that roams the Bayou taking the form of humans, birds, alligators, wild boar, and any other animal it so chooses. Tales of Hoodoo and Voodoo religions mix to tell of the beliefs of the Cajun people that are like no other. Hoodoo is considered "good magic", "healing magic", used by both priest and priestesses while Voodoo is "black magic", "curses", and "witch magic" practiced to cast spells of a negative nature on both humans and animals. Do they work? That's for you the reader to decide. As well it is up to you, the reader, to determine if the legend of the 'Rougarou' is real or nothing more than a fictional creature, but be careful not to make up your mind too quickly. The next animal slaying, murder, spell, kidnappings or potential escapes may very well lead you to question your own thought processes. Is it all in your mind or it is real? The Cajuns know what they believe and what they live on a day to day basis. They tell stories of creatures, Leticle an illegitimate child raised by alligators, has scaly like skin, webbed hands and very large feet. This being is very dangerous when angered. Also there are tales of the fuefollet that float above the swamp waters of the bayou that will lead you disastrously astray if you get on their bad side by angering them.
During the investigation of the slayings, escapes, and near death experiences, there is evidence that these crimes may have been committed by what you may think is a fictional creature, the 'Rougarou'. Even those with higher educational degrees admit to having seen this mystical creature. Although it was in their younger days as children fishing on the bayou, they admit to seeing this creature. There is evidence of cannibalism, mythical occurrences, and kingship developed out of working closely. Evidence comes to light in the form of movies taken by a resident of the Bayou that isn't completely definable as the creature. Then again, how did the trail it made into the reeds suddenly disappear? Not all the mutilated victims are left for dead, but why did they all test positive for rabies, a disease that is incurable in humans once symptoms start to appear. Is it the 'Rougarou' or a demented individual that has animalisic characteristics and immunity?
The story goes to conclude the Louisiana State Police and the FBI, but still few forensic evidence is left behind. Until the one thing that is found breaks the case wide open and as surprising as it may be it doesn't bring about a complete finality the way you would expect
