PLEASE READ WARNING AT END OF DESCRIPTION!
All that Drew Nance, amateur detective, and his friend, confidant and cohort, Carl Keene, want for Christmas is a nice visit with Drew's Aunts Aggie and Christa and large helpings of Aggie's rightly famous turkey dinner.
The tiny town of Summerville is all decked out and folks are shouting holiday wishes across streets and around the stores. It is serene and almost bucolic until the evening quiet is shattered with the booming sounds of a shotgun.
When Drew rushes outside he is almost hit by a second volley. As he gets up he finds a dead body in a very telling outfit.
If there is one thing--among so very many things--Drew hates, it is being shot at. Doubly so on Christmas Eve. Triply so when there is a dead body involved as well. And so he and Carl set out to track down the mysterious gunman and to try to salvage a few days of re-established peace on earth and good will toward them.
WORDS OF WARNING --
If you are anticipating buying a work like a Poirot or Miss Marple story, or want your 99¢ to get you a classic mystery for all times, go away now. This story is just under 100 pages long, and it is a PARODY of a series of books for girls staring a teenager with a name similar to the hero of this book. And, if you can't see the irony in that name or the second character whose name makes fun of the pen name author of that old series, then this isn't the book you're looking for.
Also, if you are not certain what "parody" or "irony" mean, look them up before giving this story a bad review. Please. We will both feel much better.
