The Early Years

Buck and Ned Oliver are twin brothers who, in their younger years, have a goal to set up a ranch in southwest Texas. This, the final book in the Diamond Bar-B Trilogy takes you, with the brothers, on their last mission as Texas Rangers. Lacking the necessary financial resources to develop a ranch on their own, Buck and Ned sign on with the Texas Rangers. Good plan? It was, as far as providing income, but the down side was this: They were on extended missions that didn't allow them the time they needed for making plans to even start up a ranch. The culmination of the brothers' frustration comes when after returning from their last mission, they have no sooner hung up their hats, they are summoned once more by their boss, Col. Tabor. It was this call to report that sent them into Mexico on a secret mission to either capture, or kill, the infamous bandit known as El Savage. If caught on the Mexican side of the border they, and the five Rangers they led, would be stood against a wall and gunned down by the Mexican Federal troops. Should they succeed, however, a rather large reward was there to split among the seven Rangers. Incentive enough, I reckon.
