In the early 1960, Pope John XIII convened the Second Vatican Council to bring Catholicism into the modern world much like Pope Francis is doing with his year of Mercy. Many were overjoyed while others felt betrayed and challenged but the changes. The laity of the church were welcomed into a new era of participation in many areas of church work - the sharing of God-given talents with each other. I followed in the tradition of stewardship from my immigrant parents and became active in my faith community during this time. Many priests and sisters call forth my gifts to be shared with my faith community. I was first hired to work in the church by the founding pastor of a new parish in my hometown. He had great faith in my abilities and what I didn't know, he taught me. We started a second parish together in 1992. Both of these parishes brought forth the gifts of many parishioners who gave to share these gifts where they were needed. This book is their story. Though the names and location s of the parishes are not given, that isn't important. They came together and believed that the presence of the Rising Lord was in them, as a community. And in the worlds of Scripture that called them forth Jesus also gave us the Bread and Wine (Body and Blood of Christ) of the communion table as nourishment for this journey. We were sent forth each week to "Go Make Difference" and they did and continue to do long after Church Lady and Padre left. It was never about us. No I am retired doing some writing, painting, story writing for children and childcare of grandchildren. I still use the talents of a Church Lady in a different way. I am forever grateful to Padre and two wonderful Vatican II communities for allowing me to grow to become a "Church Lady" Praise God for his Goodness Juanita Walker.
