The time has come to rest and recover, and Tiara and Ryker repair to the Georges V Hotel, the swank Parisian five-star rendezvous. Finally they can find in each other's closeness warmth and sanctuary. But this solicitude is about to be interrupted, as armed men burst in and hold them captive.
Inspector Jacques LeGrand of the Interpol Criminal Division enters the scene, announcing that he is charging them with the attempted murder of Sasha! Hoppy joins Ryker in a holding cell, drugged by the French Police who wouldn't give them no peace, and Tiara is held in a separate women's lockdown.
They have a surprise visitor, Captain Kennerly, who sweating profusely, announces to the three that in effect his hands are effectively tied, and that, for the moment at least, they have to remain in French custody pending the outcome of their anticipated trial in the antiquated French judicial and criminal system. Too much of a political embarrassment for the united States government, and the French government too firmly in the pocket of the French government, the three Adventurers are left in the hands of Fate.
