Chasing Miracles

Even in Springfield, where we experienced miracles on a daily basis, we harbored and hid our prejudices. Change takes place over time, usually as old people die off. I realize change doesn't seem to happen fast enough, but think of the advances humans have made over the last seven decades. To someone living those decades they seem very long. But to someone younger, looking back at seventy years of history seems merely the blink of an eye.

Young people embrace new ideas, while older people cling to tradition. Balance needs to be found. Springfield became what America wanted to be as a child. The town was open, caring and fair. We lost it as quickly as it came. Over the years, we went our separate ways, but the people of Springfield search constantly for what we lost, no matter where we might be. The search isn't in vain. Love is not an illusion. Happiness is a study and a work of art. Jim Rohn, one of my favorite speakers, said this often: "Investing our life into the lives of those around us is the most important investment we make." This is our story.
