After a devastating encounter with a young woman, twenty-seven year old Vivienne Barden reconnects with her years later and settles under the guise of a stranger. By becoming Kathleen Donovan's friend and confidante, Vivienne pushes back against the inevitable tide of destruction and truth. As her attempts to rebuild the shattered woman continue, she begins to lose her own sanity and lets the obsession creep farther and farther into her life.
