My Life Along the Long Island Expressway

Doctor Milka Torbarina encountered many difficulties in achieving her goals of becoming an MD in addition to the usual goalposts of grammar school, high school, college, medical school and residency; there were many obstacles because of her economic background, as well as prejudice from classmates, teachers and other naysayers.
With empathy and insight, Milka shares her experiences in overcoming life challenges which she and many others find in making their dreams come true.
The message is this: "We may not always have the easy road in life, but with creativity and determination and not taking "no" for an answer can take you where you want to go."
