The Blood of the Divines

Long ago the gods and goddesses walked the earth along with their human creations. They took lovers passing their own bloodlines throughout humanity, giving them celestial abilities. As time waned the divines disappeared from the earth, many believing it due to the growing hubris of humans. Their corporeal link to the gods severed the only apparent tie that remained was the godly blood that ran through select humans. While the first descendants could be considered demi-gods as time passed lineage distilled. Hundreds of years later most who are imbued with divine blood can perform nothing more than parlor tricks with their gifts.
There have been several instances to prove that proper descendants of gods and humans still exist. Claire Retlaf is one such case. Her powers having awakened at a young age she was adopted by a family of assassins. As she grew, her potential to be a pivotal force in their world is made known to her. As a child it was something that she could hardly comprehend.
When she comes of age she begins her work in her adoptive father's footsteps. It is then that she begins to realize just what power she holds. Those that meet her attempt to sway her to their side, each coveting her abilities for themselves. As she falls deeper into the seedier organizations of her city she finds that no one is telling the truth and there is plotting all around her.
As she struggles to control her own growing power she finds herself thrown into one dangerous situation after another. As she tries to figure out the best path to take she has to come to face with that harsh realities that her choices bring.
