Environmental warnings on earth began a century ago, maybe as far back as dinosaurs. Over time, most countries sugarcoated scientific findings to avoid changing their destructive ways. Global warming continued, unchecked, until a few countries took bold steps and crafted new laws to limit carbon emissions. It wasn't enough. Earth's axis began to shift as huge sections of Antarctica began to melt away. Summers became longer and longer while temperatures around the world set new record highs year after year.
The United States was the first to take serious action, allocating funds to build the first advanced underwater city in the Pacific Ocean. Select families received invitations to move there. After all, someone had to prove that living underwater was safe. But, many unseen and mysterious creatures lay in the deep, waiting. Some may not like the idea that others are moving in. On the other hand, they may be waiting to see who's coming for dinner.
Madison and Winter's parents helped design and build the ridiculously deep underwater metropolis, so, like it or not, they have all begun the journey to Oceana. Almost immediately, they find the city to be extraordinary. New friends come quickly and they secretly set out on a series of unbelievable adventures. Along the way, they discover a new civilization, previously thought to exist only in storybooks. It becomes obvious that their discovery is no fairytale. It's real. Soon enough, something else threatens the lives of everyone in the city. Ride with Madison and her friends inside and outside of the underwater city, as they risk their lives to unravel the mysteries of the deep. Stand with them as they summon help from a secret mermaid society while avoiding capture from a monstrous sea creature that could destroy the city and everyone in it.
Okay, finish packing if you dare. Take a jet airplane to Hawaii and then jump on a helicopter and travel one hundred miles south to a very small landing platform in the middle of nowhere. Climb down the platform and enter the Penguin Shuttle submarine for the final trip to Oceana. Madison, Winter, Owen, Evan, Alison, Ryan, Conner and Hailey are already on their way.
