Christmas In Cayman is staged in the early 1960's, in the Birch Tree Hill community, district of West Bay, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands. It is a blend of fiction and non-fiction, written with some imagination by including family pets. This book is geared to children 8-15 years old.

Iggie, Tommy, and Stubby are friendly inhabitants and indigenous pets for many of the Cayman Islanders. These can be seen and are very popular with families today; it shows just how much fun a family can have while working hard for a cause. Family pets are loved and welcomed into the family circle daily but they are usually cared for on the outside of the family home. Although the family usually tries to understand their pets, neither can they communicate as mentioned or be involved in planning events.

The author depicts the Kelly-Vernon family as inspired by the way the older Caymanian folks prepared for Christmas in the early years. This story indicates motivation and encouragement for children to include others while fulfilling positive deeds. The entire family showed determination, genuine work ethic and community spirit. The grandparents influence, parents love, support, encouragement and confidence in the children inspired the entire family's cooperation in helping all to enjoy Christmas time. Plans for quality time with friends, all family, including extended family members bring the story to a wonderful close.
