The story revolves around the theory of water memory, in that water has the ability to retain the imprint of places and things which it has been in contact with. The story begins in Liverpool in 1832 during the cholera outbreak and the subsequent journey of five Irish children who are left as orphans by the disease. They leave Liverpool and encounter a magical Water Shaman in a disused Watermill. He takes them through The Holy Wells of Ireland and the water memory of each Well where they have adventures with Mythological Beings of Irish legends. The story culminates in the future with a descendant of the original family and the impact of man on the earth's environment and planetary flooding.
