Pay Day the Author/Julian Hill's new book, Gospel Poetry focuses on God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son and Julian's personal journey of becoming closer to Them in the midst of anxiety, depression, schizoaffective disorder symptoms, incarceration and separation from his wife, children, family, friends and loved ones.

The poems and reflective pieces were written while he was incarcerated for 11 months and 4 days at Fayette County Jail in Georgia from April 2015 to March 2016. It was the beginning of a transformation journey. Although Julian was already a Christian, he had not come into the growth as he should have in Christ the Lord, according to his own words.

It was in jail that he continued reading scriptures, singing memorable hymns and gospel songs, and praying, then he was able to get a breakthrough. Eventually his pieces made up quite easily what is now known as the Gospel Poetry collection.

This book is a very intimate conversation with Jesus Christ. Julian believes at the time of his writing that the Holy Spirit was truly comforting him and giving him strength daily. All of us know someone who's in jail, detention center, prison or penitentiary. So you should be able to relate to these pieces very well.

It is the hope of the writer that all people from every walk of life and faith become encouraged. God has a plan for you too. Sometimes He allows a situation to happen to talk to us alone and/or get us where He wants us to be. That's how Julian feels about his recent time in jail. The Lord was working on him; remolding him to serve His Purpose and bring Him glory.

There were many people during his incarceration who encouraged him especially when anxiety and depression got the best of him. He is ever thankful to Mr. Tuck, Orrin Warner, Logan Marshall, Toy Williams, Al Hudson, Henry Mitchell and the other men and women that befriended him in jail.

Julian recognizes that had it not been for the Lord who was on his side working through the administration at Fayette County Jail, he could've suffered much worse conditions. Because of their supportive techniques he was able to recover and deal with life in a more improved fashion as it presented itself to him.

Julian believes special thanks are in order to the officers of Fayette County Jail but especially Washington, Jackson, Simmons, Williams, Carrol-Robinson, Noble and Woodall for maintaining integrity throughout a trying process. He sends his regards and thanks to the medical staff (doctor and nurses) at the jail who were there for him numerous times he had complications with his mental illness.

Many people suffer pain; both real and imagined hurts. Julian had been dealing with recurring symptoms of depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia since being first brought to medical attention in 2003. He decided to take the harder road and start over his life from scratch. Since then he married and had more children. For over a decade he had not been able to reestablish the life he had before knowing he was mentally ill. As a result of his symptoms, he sometimes was delusional and extremely paranoid thinking others were following him or trying to harm him.

God chose to provide settings where Julian could
better develop his creative writing and business skill sets. No longer being able to work without major complications, Julian wrote day after day. But his symptoms were getting worse each year, even though he took his medicine and attended counseling sessions; he was not well. The main problem hadn't been corrected yet in our time.

On April 10, 2015 after being hospitalized several times in recent months, Julian began to act irrationally toward his wife, children, family and the general public. Police were called to his home and initially charged him with three misdemeanors.

Jesus heals. But at other times He may provide a sense of wholeness. This was the prayer of Julian's father daily. Learn how Julian was able to start over once again.
