SOS: Urgent Call From Bangladesh

"In the hot black of night, I tossed sleeplessly on the thinly matted board bed. No matter how hard I tried, I could not free my mind from the confusion of sights, sounds, and smells that had filled that day. The city streets had been jammed with jeeps, bicycles, rickshaws, trucks, bullock carts, cattle, goats, dogs, and men. I remember scanning the crowds for a glimpse of another woman, but the few women I could see were draped in colorful saris or covered over by black tent-like burkas, with only peepholes to look through. Bangladesh, I decided, was a world of men."

Urgent Call From Bangladesh is the story of Mac and Eleanor Jackson, two "ancients" in their seventies who traveled to Bangladesh to serve the people who lived there.
