The Soul Collector's Will:

Durkin sits quietly while the murmuring simmers down. He struggles quietly with a disturbing
sensation he attributes to his conversation with Eris. He had known from the first day he heard
the bus with its nearly ominous, initially undefinable sound, that its arrival would harbor a relevant
moment, maybe even a revelation. He tries to tell himself that Trippett's joyous response entirely
circumscribes that moment, and that welcoming Eris' triumph with a heartfelt embrace releases
him from its affect.

There's more to this, he tells himself, and I cannot run from it any longer. Or if I can, I must not.
