The Dead Keep Asking

The short stories in this collection all have death weaving through them, sometimes as a subtle theme, but always a factor in the actions of the main characters. They try to run from it, or deny its existence, but it's always there, even if we try to ignore it.
• Ten Questions for God. A young boy selects God as his choice to interview for a school assignment, the issues the boy comes across and his own realization, that in the end, we all have our own path to follow.
• The Guest of Honor. Torn between two worlds, a depressed middle aged man travels to his homeland to attend a christening, where he is killed.
• Going Back to Memphis. Traveling cross country to claim his brother's body, a young man briefly re-lives what he loved doing, but walks away and goes back home to the life he chose.
• Angel of the Night. A young boy finds someone is watching over his Nanna.
• On Line with Mr. Cefur. Examines beliefs about life and death, the relationship between God and the Devil, and a third possibility to life's inevitable demise.
• Away, In a Manger. Living in a futuristic dystopian society, a young woman wants to keep her baby, which was conceived in a violent attack. Despite the pressures to abort, she makes her own decision, and pays a price for it.
• Hunting with Harry. A bounty hunter and his sidekick's endless search for a woman.
• Lust Knows No Shame. A tragic tale of lies and deception, all for the need to satisfy one's own desires at the expense of others.
• Special. A young man with special needs travels to San Francisco to jump off the Golden Gate Bridge, but finds a reason to live.
• Cousin Tina and the Guvnor. Family ties are sacrificed by a woman over an heirloom.
• He Couldn't Be John Anymore. A memoir of my brother's suicide, and the family's struggle to accept and forgive
