"We had walked about a kilometer when we heard screams of terror. Looking around we saw no one and started to run. Sudden gusts of wind whipped at our hair and clothing, taking our breath away. When Dorina started to cry, I yelled, "Keep going. I can't drag you, so if you don't keep up, I'll leave you behind." She knew I'd do it so she ran after me, tears streaming down her face, as she whimpered the Hail Mary. I prayed to St. Christopher for safety.
Then it happened.
It was as if someone grabbed me and I couldn't move. I saw a flash of bright light. I thought at first it looked like a lightning bolt, but it came closer and closer. A tongue of fire licked my face and whipped around my body. I thought I heard Dorina screaming. I tried, but nothing came out of my mouth. I gasped and heaved, as more fingers of fire struck my body. Later Dorina told me they went right through me. Something was hitting my face like a burning slap, and my head felt like it was going to explode. I fell to the ground and covered my head... then passed out. "
