Whether you are a reloader or just a shooter that wants to know about a particular caliber, the book, Calibers Rifle, will probably be able to answer most of your questions about the more prominent calibers in use today. I provide pictures of the gun that I used to obtain the information about that particular caliber. I also provide the inherent statistics associated with the ammunition, accuracy, primer size, and case capacity. Since felt recoil is a significant factor in the consideration of the purchase of the rifle, I calculate the ft-lb of recoil with a certain weight of gun and bullet weight. Those that are recoil sensitive will find this data very useful in selection the caliber for the intended purpose.

I give you, the reader, a small history about the introduction, known alias, and any pertinent historical information about the caliber. In the section entitled Background Date, I relate any idiosyncrasies related to the caliber; any unique requirements for reloading the ammunition. If there were any problems with obtaining the components and any problems with the components themselves. The other sections are: Best Powders, Best Bullet weight, Best Load developed, Velocity, Muzzle Energy, and Target shot for the best load developed. The last section is the comments section. It is here that I tell you how you can make the caliber you want to shoot from another caliber's brass in case you cannot find your selected caliber's brass. Case in point is the 7 x 30 Waters. You have to purchase loaded ammunition to get the brass or neck down the 30-30 brass. Occasionally, I will make a comment about the caliber as to whether it is a keeper. Meaning this is a caliber that you would want in your gun safe. For example, I found the 7 MM STW to be very effective at long range on big game and is therefore a keeper.

I believe I have an adequate coverage for the more common and some not so common calibers. I have also included a short section on Military Weapons. I know some of the military calibers have been converted to civilian use. Ergo, I thought it was important to include some of the more prominent calibers. As examples of the conversions, I would mention the 30-40 Krag and the M-14. In both cases they are extremely accurate at hunting distances and longer.
