The unwitting heroine, Aurore, naively becomes ensnared in the politics of the day, her journey takes her in many directions changing her into one of Frances most trusted spies. Although at first, she falls for the duplicity of Armand-Jean du Plessis, cardinal et duck de Richelieu Armand-Jean du Plessis, she gains wisdom using her strength of character to bring her through some very dangerous encounters. The cardinal uses any means at his disposal means to obtain the establishment of royal absolutism in France and the end of Spanish-Habsburg.
