Stories by English Authors

Stories by English Authors was a series of collected short stories published by Charles Scribner's Sons (New York, 1890-1903). We have fifty-three of the stories from nine of these volumes: England, Scotland, London, Ireland, France, Germany and Northern Europe, The Orient, Italy and Africa. Scribner's had previously published these stories in Scribner's Magazine as reprints of the original publications in the United Kingdom.

The authors are some of the great names in English literature, including: Robert Louis Stevenson, J.M. Barrie, Arthur Morrison, Sir Arthur Quiller-Couch, Wilkie Collins, Sir Walter Scott, Thomas Hardy, Anthony Hope, Laurence Oliphant, Anthony Trollope, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Sir H. Rider Haggard.
