I'm Not My Brother! I'm Me, Carson Kobe!
by Debra Powers-Cook
My dad says, "Leave the lizards and bugs outside like your brother does."
But I say, "I'm not he, I'm me! I like keeping the insects in my room, that's what interests me."
This book tells the story about a younger sibling trying to have his own identity within the world that surrounds him. The younger brother is eight and is constantly mistaken for or compared to his older brother who is ten. He doesn't understand the confusion because he knows that they are clearly two completely different people, and therefore should be seen different.
He goes through life patiently trying to explain to everyone who he is, hoping they would eventually get it, as he frustratingly points out the differences between the two. Lately, his most used sentence has become, "I'm not he, I'm me!"
