"Okay, genius, let's say we find your phone. What's to keep us from getting lost?" He stopped pushing and waited for her answer. The woods were going to be extremely dark and he was definitely not a fan of being in the woods at night. He wasn't letting her know that though. If Kailey wasn't afraid to go into the forest at night, neither was he.
"Simple, we have Zoey." Kailey explained as she pointed at the floppy eared dog plodding along beside them.
Aaron rolled his eyes and shook his head. "That's your big idea? We really are sunk! I know Zoey's a bloodhound. You know Zoey's a bloodhound. But, Zoey doesn't know she's a bloodhound. She's a couch potato who would rather be home laying on the couch and eating Kleenexes."
Kailey giggled. "You're right. She yanked a Kleenex right out of my hand before we left your house and ate it."
She looked down at the floppy eared dog. Zoey's big sad blood shot brown eyes made her look pathetic. Her big tongue was hanging out the side of her mouth and she had her head cocked to the side. "You're special aren't you girl?" She patted Zoey on the head.
"Yeah, she's special alright." Aaron said sarcastically. "We'll probably spend half the night chasing her through the woods. Either that or the big chicken will get spooked and run home howling and wake every one up. Then we'll be in real trouble." They were in trouble no matter what. Going off alone at night was pure foolishness but he wasn't going to let Kailey go alone.
