The Cauld Lad of Hilton tale is based on the English legend of 16th century about the groom-boy named Robert Skelton who was murdered. According to one version, he was killed for a love relationship with the lord¿s daughter. According to another ¿ he forgot to prepare the horses for the long way, and the Baron got angry, killed him and hid the body. Anyway, a ghost or a brownie, sort of Bogle, has begun to appear in the Hilton castle at night. While the servants were asleep, he made a mess in the kitchen and spoiled clothes and dishes. However when servants left the cake for him, he helped clear away things for them, and made everything tidy. But it used to be more harm than good because of him, so servants found a way to get rid of brownie. Read this fairy tale and find out what has happened.
