Introduction

I compiled this book, "The Amazing Alice Walker (Activist for Feminist' Equality)" because of her courage to fight the oppression of Blacks and women around the World by most Societies through her poems and writings.
I had not ever heard of Alice Walker and did not know who she was or what she had ever did until I was watching TV one Friday night on February 7, 2014, while scanning channels looking for something interesting to watch. I so happen to come across this PBS special on the author of The Color Purple. I didn't realize she was an African American Feminist who wrote the novel.
I watched the movie, The Color Purple when it came out on the big screen in 1985. I thought it should have won best picture that year, but it didn't win anything. I understood at the time Whites didn't acknowledge Black talent in acting and writing. Also I did not really notice the author of the novel either.

To be honest, most movie goes really don't focus on the author. The author really don't resonate in most people minds, only the title of the movie does.

I was fascinated about her life story, because I was born on August 10, 1939 in Arp, Texas. Texas five years before she was born. We had a lot in common born during the Jim Crow area. Texas wasn't as hard on Blacks like the System was in the deep South. I really didn't understand what segregation was until the older I got.

As I got older I realize White had all the businesses and lived much better than Blacks. We automatic new our place and accepted our fate until Rosa Parks decided not to take it any more. The rest is history.
