Lloyd Cole and the Commotions: Live at the Marquee

The British-based indie rock act Lloyd Cole and the Commotions formed in 1982 and signed with Capitol Records in 1984. They explicitly characterized themselves via such elements as "pretentious" lyrics, constant name-dropping in mid-song, and a style that influenced many later and more successful acts. For a time, they even competed with the better-known (though not less influential) Smiths in terms of popularity. Cole and the Commotions headline this live set, performed and filmed in 1986 at London's Marquee venue. Mike Mansfield produced and directed; selections include "Patience," "Speedboat," "Glory," and many more.
