This release showcases Viktor Turin's Soviet documentary TURKSIB (1929), and explores how the short film influenced British documentary films of the 1930s; in particular THE WORKERS' TOPICAL NEWS No 1 (1930), THE COUNTRY COMES TO TOWN (1931), SHADOWS ON THE MOUNTAINS (1932), and the much-celebrated NIGHT MAIL (1936).
