Poe: World Premiere Performance

Many performers have turned the stage monologue into an art form via their uncanny abilities to channel the personality and mannerisms of a celebrity from the distant past; Steve Balsamo did so with his portrayal of the dark yet iconic author Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849). The premiere of +Poe took place at Abbey Road Studios in London, in November 2003; that debut performance appears in this home release. It finds Balsamo carrying audiences on a pivotal, insightful journey through Poe's tumultuous life and gothic work before an audience of 300 people. Stylistically, the program takes advantage of unique set lighting and an unusual sound system.
