This movement of the first Five-Year Plan gave a tremendous productivity growth, not only in the coal industry, but also in other sectors of the economy that has created a powerful material and technical base on the eve of the Great Patriotic War.
After the war, "Stakhanov movement" and its initiator AG Stakhanov been forgotten.
With the collapse of the Soviet Union, Ukraine's first leaders not only forgot the "Stakhanov movement," but all the mines and destroyed the city in which it originated. But residents remember "Stakhanov movement" and honor the name of AG Stakhanov, calling the city its name.
