O Novo Conto Brasileiro: Antologia critica com anotacoes e exercicios gramaticais

This anthology, written solely in Portuguese, is intended primarily for use among non-native speakers at the intermediate and advanced levels of university instruction. The inclusion, within each chapter of a critical sketch, basic bibliography, annotated text and grammatical exercise, makes for optimum versatility. The thirty-six stories themselves represent one of the largest selections ever available of Brazil's living short story writers, dispersed among established and more recent figures. Furthermore, each piece shares the dual qualities of being generally representative of its author and having the potential to retain and stimulate student interest. All stories, in turn, are presented in descending order with regard to the relative facility with which they can be read.
