The New Oxford Book of Seventeenth-Century Verse

Among the Oxford Books of Verse, the seventeenth-century volume has a special place (and a generous extent), because of the remarkable quantity of fine verse produced during that period.This new selection responds to considerable changes of taste since previous Oxford anthology by H.J.C. Grierson and G. Bullough. In particular, it tries to strike a balance between Metaphysical and Jonsoniaqn poetry, as well as to make up for earlier neglect of popular verse.
