Ten mathematicians, physicists, theoretical biologists, and theologians gathered in Sante Fe, New Mexico in October 1999 for the symposium Complexity, Information, and Design: A Critical Appraisal. Their papers are presented here in sections on defining complexity, the concept of information in physics and biology, and philosophical and religious perspectives.
