A textbook for an advanced undergraduate course introducing nonlinear science. It explains the theory, methods, and consequences of current thinking that physical phenomena cannot always be broken down into a series of simple causes and effects, which are solved one by one; but in many cases are nonlinear, and the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, leading to the emergence of new structures that are spatially or temporally coherent.
