Mental Health Law: Policy and Practice

This text examines the legal structure and functionings of the UK's mental health system. Explanations of the legal principles are placed in the context of their practical application, along with proposals and possibilities for reform. From an analysis of 1990s-legislation and case law, the authors ask fundamental questions as to whom mental health law is intended to benefit, and whether a system of mental health law can now be expected to provide remedies for the people it is intended to serve.
