Aegina: Contexts for Choral Lyric Poetry: Myth, History, and Identity in the Fifth Century BC

This collection of studies presents a variety of perspectives on Aegina, famous for its Temple of Aphaia, its status as the home of many of the patrons of Pindar and Bacchylides, and the expulsion of its inhabitants by the Athenians at the beginning of the Peloponnesian War. These essays consider broader historical and religious questions as well as focusing on specific poems and the way in which they reflect the island.
