Political scientists and historians, but also scholars of psychiatry, language, film, and other fields combine archive-based material and the testimony of military and anti-war veterans to explore many facets of the war for Algerian independence from France. Among the topics are the Sahara, the morale of the French Foreign Legion, Anglo-Saxon literary and film representations of the French Army in Algeria, and psychological propaganda in French Army pamphlets.
