In addition to exploring his recurring artistic themes, his self-portraits, his inspirational Biblical masterpieces, and his etchings and drawings, it looks at his childhood, marriage, artistic rise, and eventual fall toward bankruptcy. Twenty removable facsimile items include a preliminary sketch for "The Nighwatch," an announcement of his marriage, and a “For Sale” notice of Rembrandt's possessions.
